I think it is safe to say our "colors" are probably done for the season. After snow yesterday and a hard freeze last night we are socked in with fog this morning but still being promised a lovely weekend! Meanwhile I wanted to show you another fun spot my Mom and I went to before she left.
Giant Springs is an amazingly lovely well kept park just outside of Great Falls. It is a popular place for parties and weddings and an lovely place to picnic and just sit and listen to the water or visit the fish hatchery there.
Yes, there is indeed a spring here - in fact it feeds into the Missouri River and is considered a "first magnitude" spring. Water feeds underground from some (but not all) of the snow melt up in the Little Belt mountains and flows for 26 years before bubbling up out of these springs. It is absolutely incredible the amount of water that comes out of the springs and it stays at a fairly constant 54F temperature.
A great place to practice flowing water shots although since it was so darned sunny it was hard to find a shady spot where I could get the shutter speed low enough to get what I wanted.
