I don't always get out and about and do photos like I might like to. Sometimes I like just enjoy staying around home and catching up on training with my dogs, cleaning in my house and putzing (yes, it is a word). No I have not forgotten all of you in blog land but I definitely have been busy doing other stuff. So this is my attempt to catch you (and my Mom) up on what I've been up to recently.
There is of course work. Still loving working from home a couple days a week and I have to say it has been an emotional benefit to me and to my dogs. I could get used to this!
Cleaning continues as I am going through another round of getting rid of "stuff". One of my bucket list items was marked off a long time ago and the flute was sitting in a closet. Took it in and sold it back to the music store. Some middle school kid will get to use it next year and the music people have a bunch of flute music that will be in the free box! The thrift stores will continue to get clothes and misc. furniture and electronics. It feels so good to be thinning out (possession wise if not body wise - LOL).
Some dog training is also going on while the weather holds and it is still light when I get home (or during lunch hours when I work from home). Epic is working on agility starters - mostly weaves which is really making his brain fry out. I can say this - he's tired when we get done. He will also get started on nosework so that this winter I have a prayer of giving him something indoors to do (we'll work on some tricks too) when it is too icky to go out.
Sterling is also practicing some agility in an effort to get his groove back on and some enthusiasm back in that game. We kinda lost that this summer. I also set a goal to work on getting him in front of a cart. I got a harness and built a practice cart oh geez 15 years ago when I had my overgrown wheaten I was going to use it with. That never happened but Sterling is about the same size and with his mellow temperament I figured now might be a time to try. He's rockin' it and with some help from my working dog friends we got him hooked up and adjustments made to both harness and cart so it is comfortable for him and now we will just practice (and probably tweek). So very proud of him and this is yet another new dog thing I'm enjoying trying out! There is a very short video HERE
The other dogs are just hanging......it is getting colder so they hunker in more. Everyone seems to be pretty healthy or at least no less healthy than they have been. Iago the macaw is also hanging in as the daylight gets shorter and shorter.
So that's my story. Sterling and I will be doing therapy dog visit on Sunday which is always fun. I am 1/2 way through my amazing Miracles and Intentions Nia classes and I am enjoying some relax time in the evenings getting caught up on some of my book reading both on the Kindle and in paper which I am enjoying! Not much on TV anymore so this works well!
