Lunar Madness

October 14, 2014  •  5 Comments

I made up my mind - by golly I was going to get some night photography done if it killed me!   I have a LONG way to go in that realm but figured what better chance to do it than the full moon and the lunar eclipse.   Yeah, not so much.   I was up at 3:30 a.m. (remember peeps I go to work at 6 a.m.) and took the camera and my crappy tripod outside to watch the eclipse.   Now don't get me wrong, it was cool to see but we didn't get to see the "blood moon" as the fuzzy clouds just pretty much made it black out.   At least in my yard.   Imagine my disappointment which got even worse when I finally got back into bed only to hear the alarm 5 minutes later (okay I don't function well in the middle of the night - or read the clock right).

So my contributions are the full moon shots and then a few of the eclipse as it started.   I will be doing a lot more reading up on the night photography and hope to do a bit more this winter.  Star trails are on my agenda at some point in the next year.  On days I don't have to get up for work!  LOL

I do still love seeing the full moon with all of it's craters and such!  :)

I think you did a great job! Lots of stuff to know about this night stuff. for sure you need a remote trigger , and a good tripod is a big help too. I'll bet that really was a dissappointment to hear that alarm go off.

Sure enjoyed the photos and your interesting blog subjects. I was lucky that my dog wanted out at just the right time to see the red phase of eclipse as no clouds here.

Awesome, Sherry... Glad you saw it... We missed it totally since it's been cloudy and rainy here for about 2 weeks now... We were dry as a bone through Aug/Sept ---but just these past two weeks, we have gotten over 7 inches of rain here... We needed rain ---but now, I'd love some sunshine!!!!! ha

You captured the eclipse and that full moon perfectly.
Hugs,
Betsy
