The last night we had in NM my coworkers and I had decided to go check out Sandia Peak. It is super easy to get to and has a tram that goes up to the top where you can eat at the restaraunt or you can hike the top, stay at the bottom and hike and also there is a bar and restaraunt at the bottom for those not interested in the tram ride. My friend and coworker Peggy and I decided the tram and dinner was a plan and our other coworker stayed at the bottom and hiked. What a cool ride it was and when we arrived at the top we found out there were two parasailers up there hoping to take off on the thermals. There is a spot right by the restaraunt and viewing platforms where they have a take off area used by many. I'll tell you right now - it looked amazingly fun and peaceful when they got up flying but I couldn't do the mental stuff they have to to get that sail up at the right time and hope I didn't fall down the mountain.
The food at the restaruant was pricey but worth it - absolutely yummy and great service!
There is also a hiking trail over to the tippy top of the peak and as much as I'd have liked to have gone it was dark by the time we finished dinner (and I dashed out for sunset shots). Great practice for me in manual mode on the sunset for sure. It was also super cool to see the almost full moon peaking around the corner as we arrived. There are numerous shots in here also taken through the UV glass of the tram - just so you know.
Definitely another must do if you go visit. Great fun, great scenery and of course great company.
These were taken during as the sun set.
More of the parasailers. Sorry these aren't in order.
