The next part of my NM "adventures in a day" was to take the train (you saw that earlier) to the zoo. Now some of you may have strong feelings one way or antoher about zoos so feel what you must and either take or leave these next posts. I myself have always loved zoos, in fact when I was a freshman and we were doing career days at school I was really drawn to wanting to get into a zoo type career. Wow have things changed since those days (and I'm not telling how long ago that was). Meanwhile I still enjoy visiting zoos and being able to see animals I may never see in the wild (sadly). I applaud the efforts of many zoos to save those species on this planet that are in trouble but I too struggle with the zoo environment as a whole.
So these zoo posts are truly just for you to enjoy the animals and the people (because honestly, I adore watching kids at zoos) and applaud all the caretakers (we'll talk more about that with the elephant post) and Albuquerque Zoo, because honestly it is one of the most lovely I've seen in quite some time (let's face it we have one small zoo in MT so I don't see that many).
The first stop off the train for me was the giraffes. I've never had the opportunity to spend time at a zoo with these amazing creatures and I will say I was very drawn to them and spent quite a lot of time with them. The thing I admire about them is their amazing grace of movement. Wow! Oh yes and those eyes......those dreamy eyes and long lashes.....(okay their tongues are pretty cool too)....
Yup, that last one about sums it up! LOL
