I doubt anyone who knows me will be surprised that the birds were high on my list of animals to photograph. I won't bore you with ALL the shots but warning....there are a lot. I was disappointed not to be able to go in with the lorikeets though and of course taking shots through cage and wire is a challenge and some shots you'll see the faint outlines of wire and others I managed to get it to fade out. Hey! Good photo challenge for me.
I left the wire in on this first shot. This big vulture was sitting on the wire right above my head as I walked through their enclosure. I just thought it was so cool and of course listened to everyone else worry about "poop on the head" while others never even bothered to look up. I photograph birds...I ALWAYS look up! LOL
Maribou Stork - this bird looked pretty formidable as they had just gotten fed and is housed with the vultures.
I never thought I'd say this but these really are intense and beautiful birds! Cape Griffon Vulture
Love birds (hey - you were thinking it too!).
I adore flamingos and think they are just super cool. These had the most lovely colors and were not behind wire! Woop!
There was a mallard duck family that apparently has adopted the flamingos (and their food) as family (probably for the food).
I liked this shot with the reflection and the single feather floating on the water.
This looked to me like quite the conversation that was going on.
Cattle Egret
Blue (Stanley's) Crane - yes I had to go look it up.
Crested Caracara (yup had to look that one up to) - what a super cool bird
Burrowing Owl - we have these in MT but never have seen them in the wild.
