I cannot believe I have only had the boats in the water like 4 times this year (and the first time was in March)! How pathetic is that? So even though it was a bit breezy and cold I decided I had to go paddle around the reservoir during my long weekend off. Another chance to fight with the poodle puppy (regarding boat manners) and take Teddy out for a much needed water "zen".
Best kayak dog ever!
There were a few birds out and about. Quite a few songbirds and blackbirds and I did see the elusive kingfisher twice but he was too skittish to sit still so sorry no photos. The canadian geese are making their way through as it appears are the pelicans. Also saw a number of grebes with their teenagers out and about. There were also 4 lone young great blue herons still hanging around which surprised me. I've never seen lone young ones here this late but this year was weird in many ways for the birds.
I was able to snap a few shots of this young spotted sandpiper though and I was more than happy with that (in between having discussions with the poodle puppy).
It was so nice to get out on the water and I hope we have a nice long Fall so I can maybe do a little catch up in the paddling area. I've missed it for sure!
