Yellowston Bison

There are always gobs of bison hanging out down the road to Cooke City this time of year and Robin and I had a super fun time photographing them.   Then on the way out of the park we stopped to decide if we were going to go soak at the Boiling River.   We decided not to but went to the picnic area across the road and walked down to the river to just enjoy the scenery a minute.   We were talking and wandering around and Robin turned around and said something to the effect of "OMG there is a F-ing buffalo RIGHT THERE!"    He wasn't at all concerned about us and we just very slowly took photos and headed back towards the parking lot.   A little closer than I like with no vehicle around us!

I had teased Robin about taking photos of the bison on the roads (we herded about 3 groups) but when we saw this bunch I fell victim to that same "tourist" shot I'd teased her about.

These two were having quite the pushing and shoving match with one other one right in there refereeing (or maybe egging them on).

Oh I love the on the road shot!! Perfect!! A baby buffalo is on my photography bucket list. How wonderful that you live so close to the park and can visit when you want! :)

Awesome shots! They're huge animals. I wouldn't want to get too close to them.

How cool! Not everyone can say they've been that close to bison! Fantastic shots!
