As we drove down to Lamar figuring we'd drive the entire length, we got to one of the spots I know is known for having wolves. All you do is look for the wolf-watchers and sure enough there was a BUNCH! Apparently there was a bison winter kill up one of the draws and you could see (with the spotting scopes) the wolves who had been feeding on it that morning. Rumor had it there had been up to 12 on it at one point and had also chased off a grizzly but we didn't see that. Apparently the Lamar pack had also been feeding in an area we already passed earlier too but had left that one. Robin and I could hardly contain ourselves and a lovely gentleman let us look through his scope to see them. I had my big lens and took these shots (plus more) just to prove YES we saw WOLVES! A very very big deal around these parts. You will see the pile of ravens on the carcass to the left and the wolves lazing after filling their bellies. Honestly I should have taken photos of the spectators and their scopes and cameras with 100 pound lenses! LOL
