This river runs through it - oh wait - I couldn't help that! Actually this river is about 75 miles long and absolutely stunning. I runs north and south in the Bitterroot Valley and we were blessed to be within a short walk of a section of it where we camped. I mentioned we saw many critters while there including deer, great blue herons, red-winged blackbirds and heard the sandhill cranes but didn't see them. The perfect place for a walk for sure but much of the river is hard to access as it is bounded by private land (we had permission from the landowner we needed to walk down there).
The first three were taken the first evening we walk down to the edge so they are a bit dark. I just am always amazed at the courses the river takes, the things that have floated downstream and the lay of the river bottom. Walking across the fields to get there you could find a lot of river rock, knowing that the river also at one point ran wide and far across the width of the valley until man started to push it back.
Looking eastward towards the river from our camping spot. We really hit a great time of year as many of the trees were juuuust leafing out so you could kind of still see their structures which I thought was pretty cool.
I took this on one of my morning strolls with the poodles down to the rivers edge and really didn't think it would be very good because I was facing into the light. I was wrong and it is kind of one of my favorites.
And looking the other way with the morning light showing us the mountains to the west.
