Ahhh I finally have time to sit down and share some of my week with those of you that have hung in here with me! My brother headed home this morning super early and I was able to get out in our windy but happy to say, only 70 degree temps, and get the Back40 mowed so that the poodles can have a place to really run again. The weeds had grown and gone to seed and it was a nightmare pulling foxtails and needle and thread grass out of their coats - however short. So last Tuesday we closed the gate - no more fetch up back. Epic was devastated!
So gosh, where to start...The week with my Mom and brother was fabulous. We were busy but not too busy but the week flew by way too fast. Kent met us for dinner Sunday night down the road and surprised my Mom. It was great! We got back to the house and I have to say, all of my dog were smitten with him. He obviously has good juju energy. Dot was particularly smitten and the old girl took every opportunity to ask for lap time. (yup that is my Mom on the the couch with them)
Even though said brother was on vacation he did a TON of great things around here to help out. "Putzing" he calls it. Mom now has her headlights replaced on her car, my riding mower has been fixed and is back up and running (no small feat), the gray tank drain on the trailer has been fixed after he and I noticed it was loose when we were doing a walk around the first night. Mom has a new Ipad and the tech wizard she calls her son got it all set up and running correctly for her. He entertained Epic with much fetching to boot! Was so nice to have some "brains and brawn" around to do some things that would have taken me alot longer - or had to have gone in to someone else! He even BBQd some tri tip for us one night.
As you saw in the previous post I did work a couple partial days so I could spend time with him and we did manage a lovely kayak trip early one morning. Epic and Teddy went along and we paddled for about 3 hours with a short stop at one of the far side beaches to let Epic swim (okay so I also put Teddy in a couple times - which is why you see the "friend" picture below. Since Epic was being "antsy pants" Teddy rode back with Kent.
Pretty sure Teddy is doing the "nanner-nanner" at us!
On Friday we took off for a drive in the mountains which was absolutely fabulous - but I'm saving that for the next post. I said to Mom today, "You know you had a great visit with great company when you are truly sad to see them leave!"
