Mountain Drive

Here I am promising a post on our drive in the mountains and 5 days later I"m finally getting to it.  Pathetic huh?    So knowing that the 4th of July was going to be busy with traffic and a parade in the small town we were heading to, Mom, Kent and I decided to take off on the 3rd for a drive in the mountains outside of Lincoln.

We had inside information on a lovely drive that probably wouldn't have "too many" people and although more than a non-holiday weekend it wasn't too bad.  In fact when we got to the top of Huckleberry Pass we met up with 2 "Medicare recipients" (their words not mine) riding their bikes up from the other side.   I was totally impressed.

Not only that but we found a couple of places that will be camping possibilities in the future - one was even by a lovely lake that we walked in to and found people already camped there.   Still we HAD to let Epic swim and Sterling stand up on top of the bank with my Mom - haha.   We got over the pass and stopped for a lovely "out of the truck" (would that make it a Food Truck?) picnic by a creek.    All in all it was an lovely drive and we saw lots of scenery and reminisced that my Dad would have been out here all summer long doing drives like this and how we did many of the same things growing up.  :)   Miss you Dad but we know you were with us in spirit!

Not as many pictures as usual but honestly we were up in the trees so much and when we popped out at the top it was kinda hazy with smoke so the "scenic" shots weren't going to show much.  Plus I was just enjoying sharing time with my family!   Still hope you enjoyed sharing part of our drive with us!

I'm afraid of the water...you must be VERY brave. Mom does make me go in with her, but I'm still afraid.
