Just so you don't all think I'm not coming back to blog! Here's a few shots from my kayak with my brother on Thursday morning. We had such an amazing time and saw the first kingfisher I've seen up there, no baby grebes (just eggs which I'm doubtful are going to hatch after this long), found tha the red tail hawk Momma had indeed raised another youngin' to fledge, the first shorebirds (sandpipers) I've seen all summer and the baby herons are just getting gigantic (but the picture is of one of the adults)! There was also a bullock's oriole but it was flying around too quick to gt a shot - the orange was unmistakable though. Hope you enjoy the pics and yes there will be more to come.
And last but not least (not from the reservoir) on our way to town the other day we saw one of the sandhill crane pairs in the field with their TWO youngsters. I wasn't able to get a great light shot as they were on a mission for breakfast and under the irrigation by the time I could get the light at my back but still, here is one of the parents and youngsters (the other was just a tad out of frame).
