New Nuthatch

August 07, 2015  •  8 Comments

I haven't seen the pygmy nuthatch family much at all this summer but a new species has arrived in the area.  A family of white-breasted nuthatches has taken up residence in the neighborhood.  I see them at my feeders and have seen them on my walks as well.   That accounts for all 3 species in this area of the country.  Kinda cool!  Not the best photo op but gotta take it when I can.   The shade and clouds were a challenge for this busy body bird.

He's cute and difficult to capture, i'm sure.

Now that's one little bird I'd like to see! I know how quickly the little ones move so congratulations on capturing images in low light conditions. I especially like the 'peek round the tree' shot.

Fantastic! I love these little guys, but for some reason we don't get them at the feeders where we live now.
