TWTW - The Week that Was

December 30, 2019  •  1 Comment

As always am staying busy as the days crawl at a snail's pace growing longer.   I know I need to keep busy as it really helps with the January/February downers!  Lots of projects on my platter and lots of trips to Hobby Lobby, spending way more than Far Side is on her two skeins of yarn!  LOL   I think it may be a bad thing that it is on my end of town as well.  All good regardless as it also helps just get me out and about.  I could easily become a hermit if not for my projects and appointments and stops at the bank to pay bills.

There was more drawing practice...

...and a poodle wander on our way home from - you guessed it Hobby Lobby (and some other errands).

Here is a very short video of some very happy poodles...

...and then I had the supplies needed to get a couple of the travel trailer sewing projects out of the way.
I got the quilt cut up that I'm using for the 'back door' panel.   It needed to be in 3 pieces so the center area can be rolled up to allow access through the back for loading and unloading (between the benches).   I also want it to be velcro'd to the top and sides to hold it tight.   That went fairly well, with only a couple of arguments with the temperamental sewing machine.  It has  ALWAYS been temperamental and  thread will come out of the lift arm which ends up with knots, jamming and some cursing.

...and then I got really brave, washed the fabric I want to put on the front of the benches to cover up the drawers underneath them.   I was feeling apprehensive to be honest but decided to see if I could remember how to gather.  Well #1 went pretty well, #2 I started pulling the gathers  and snapped the threads.  I had a sense I had some setting wrong so out came the manual - settings were right but there is a special foot you can use to help it out.  It worked okay but next time (HAHA) I will use heavy duty thread.   But hey I got-er-done!

...and then morning coffee and drawing practice and heck a little coloring of designs  I'd done.  I have a vision for another floral drawing before I move on to the next set of lessons.  I am finding that I need to find a better technique for pencil drawing and inking and erasing.   I find I cannot always find the lines I've already inked over the pencil.   More trying....

I need to go back to Hobby Lobby but that day I didn't need very much and had zero time! I will go back as it is a favorite place of mine and I have a gift certificate! Your drawings are wonderful! I know what you mean about having lots of projects for the dark part of the year! :)
